Tesla PPF in San Jose: Full Front or Full Body?
Updated: 6 hours ago
When comparing paint protection film for a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y, start with the panels you want covered. A package name such as “full front” or “full body” is only a starting point. The useful comparison is a written list of included panels, film product, preparation and edge treatment.

Model Y front-quarter detail from T-House's gloss PPF project archive. Ask for the panel list for your own installation.
Selected panels: define a focused scope
Selected-panel coverage lets you discuss particular areas instead of treating the car as one package. You might ask about the front bumper, hood or another painted area that matters to you. Identify whether the quote covers a whole panel or only part of it, and where any visible film boundary would fall. Ask the installer to confirm what is feasible for your model and the selected film.
Full front: check the actual panel list
When requesting a full-front quote, ask the shop to mark the hood, front bumper, front fenders and painted mirror caps as included or excluded. Check whether each panel is covered in full. Treat headlights, trim and any other surfaces as separate questions; do not assume that a painted-panel package includes them.
This option is worth discussing if your main concern is the front of the vehicle and you want to compare a more focused scope with broader coverage. It does not put film on doors or rear panels unless they are specifically listed. Ask where seams or exposed edges will remain rather than assuming “full front” means an invisible edge everywhere.
Full body: broader coverage still needs boundaries
For a full-body proposal, have the installer list every exterior painted panel and identify exclusions. Discuss bumpers, doors, rear quarters, hatch or trunk, pillars and painted roof sections where applicable. Glass, wheels, interior surfaces and unpainted trim should not be assumed to be included.
Broader coverage can make sense when you want film on more of the car, but it also expands the work being quoted. Compare it with a selected-panel proposal using the same film series, finish and preparation assumptions. The larger package is not automatically the right choice for every owner.
Compare more than coverage
Record the film brand and series, gloss or other proposed finish, preparation, existing-film removal and treatment of previously repaired paint. Share photos of chips, scratches, peeling clear coat or repainted panels. Film should not be treated as paint repair or a guarantee against every impact. XPEL's product information describes protective features for its specific products; confirm the product actually quoted for your car.
Ask for the expected schedule, written aftercare and applicable warranty. Keep product warranty terms separate from the shop's installation coverage. If you are considering a different color rather than primarily paint protection, compare the actual material with the options on our Wrap vs PPF page.
A panel-by-panel quote request
“My vehicle is a [year, model]. Please quote [selected panels / full front / full body] and list all included panels and exclusions. Please identify the film brand, series and finish; full or partial panel coverage; seams and edge treatment; preparation and removal; price; estimated schedule; aftercare; and applicable warranty. Existing damage or repainting: [details].”
Frequently Asked Questions
Does full-body PPF include the windshield and glass roof?
Do not assume it does. Have the installer distinguish exterior painted panels from glass, trim and other surfaces. Request a separate assessment for any glass protection and check the exact product and exclusions.
Can I add more PPF panels later?
Discuss a staged installation before choosing the first package. Additional coverage depends on the paint condition, existing film, product availability and preparation required at that time. Ask how a later installation would meet the original coverage.
Will PPF hide or repair existing stone chips?
PPF is not paint repair. Share photos of existing chips, scratches or repainted panels before requesting installation. Have the surface assessed and any preparation or repair needs documented separately.
